Newtonbrook Secondary School
Principal's Message

As the Principal of Newtonbrook Secondary School, I would like to welcome you to our website which serves as the central hub of communication for our community and those “visitors” who would like to learn more about what makes Newtonbrook special.

Change has a way of forcing us to look at old things in a new way. It doesn’t mean that we have to throw out everything we know and start all over again, only that we can look at things with fresh lenses. This is how I approach any new situation I am faced with whether personal or professional. Not to be afraid of change but to use it to make informed decisions about what is truly worth preserving and what can be made even better.

I look forward to upholding the spirit embodied in our school vision which highlights excellent standards and long standing traditions that have made Newtonbrook a great school. Adding my own vision for a safe, dynamic, progressive, and well rounded learning environment will serve to enhance the strengths that already exist in the community. I look forward to leading a school that equally values academic excellence, sportsmanship, responsible citizenship, artistic expression in all its forms, and kindness to others.

We are extremely fortunate to have a staff dedicated to your child’s education growth and personal development. In the months ahead, they will be busy teaching, coaching, and mentoring your son/daughter to develop the skills and positive attitude required for success in today’s demanding society. With all the support of the Vice Principals, Ms. Armstrong, and Mr. Kolin, our outstanding guidance, office, and support staff, I know I have an incredible team working together.

Your role as the parent is to assist in the communication process between home and school ensuring that a constant flow of information is exchanged. Take advantage of the avenues open to do this whether it is attending school council meetings held throughout the year, joining us for special events and activities, reading newsletters and memos sent out, or by keeping up regularly with the web-site. We value your input. Make your ideas, suggestions, and comments heard by sharing them with us. We appreciate your support. Education is a partnership between the home, school, and student.

Thank you for the warm welcome I have already received and I look forward to getting to know you better in the future. Together we will ensure that Newtonbrook students have the opportunity to achieve the highest level of success they can and have the widest selection of activities to choose from. Change can be positive and I would invite you to believe like I do that if you can dream it, you can make it happen.

 Mrs. Lynne Koffman
